The National Tutoring Programme
Supporting pupils across England
The Department for Education launched the National Tutoring Programme in academic year 2020 to 2021 to support schools and local authorities to provide tuition for their pupils. The programme is well-established, with the majority of state-funded schools in England now offering tutoring.
On 31 March 2022, the department announced plans to simplify the programme for academic year 2022 to 2023. These plans involve providing £349 million of NTP funding directly to schools and giving them the freedom to decide how best to provide tutoring for their pupils.
